Jay Brown, Senator
My name is Jay Brown and I am proud to be a 12'-13' UISG Senator! I look forward to a great year working directly with my peers, other senators, and The University of Iowa's diverse population. My goal this year is to help foster an inclusive campus for current students and lay the groundwork for increased involvement for the class of 2016 and beyond!
I am currently perusing the international business certificate and Japanese as well as an MIS major. In the summer of 2009 I traveled to Japan as a foreign exchange student and have been fascinated with public relations both domestically and internationally ever since. Because of this life changing experience I have a strong passion to create an inclusive campus for students of all walks of life, visible or not. I am currently working on a project with The University of Iowa's GLBTAU and other similar groups (such as The Outlaws) at the university to increase communication and awareness of this particular diversity group. This project is hopefully the first of many with many different diversity groups. I feel very fortunate to be a Hawkeye because of all the opportunities to meet and get to know so many people from different backgrounds and cultures!
Feel free to contact me with any ideas or concerns you think I would be able to assist with. If I don't know the answer I will be sure to help you find someone who does! I am very excited for a great year working with both my fellow senators and the student body here at The University of Iowa! GO HAWKS!
