Our Mission, Our Purpose

The University of Iowa Student Government, run entirely by students, represents all undergraduate students at Iowa. We advocate for students' needs, challenge ourselves and the University, and work to build a better University for our peers.

How we do it

• By allocating student fees to student organizations, and by giving student input on all the different kinds of student fee allocations.
• Representing students' voice on the issues. When a new policy proves unpopular, or a situation needs changed, UISG is on the front line for the students.
• Working with administrators to improve our University, keeping students as the top priority. We generally work with, rather than against, University administrators where possible to provide a better situation for students.
• By leading student initiatives that will benefit ourselves and the University. Our platform advocates for everything from better recycling to more student opportunities.
• Through soliciting student input on a variety of issues. We support asking students directly how our University should be run.
• By communicating with students, and answering their questions. We know a lot about the University, and can help students get answers.
