Cleartainer tutorial video produced
UISG's Sustainability Liaison Kelsey Zlevor in collaboration with Student Videos Production and the Office of Sustainability recently produced a "how to" cleartainer video to streamline the process of training individuals on how to manage a cleartainer station. Cleartainers are a station of recycling, compost, and trash receptacles designed to eliminate waste and encourage environmentally friendly practices at events.
UISG purchased Cleartainers for student organization/event use last year within the IMU, and the Cleartainers enable both recycling and composting at major events. These systems can be requested for use when filling out an EIF, or event information form through the IMU event and planning page. While IMU catering staff is informed of how to use Cleartainers, major events, such as Dance Marathon, can require the assistance of many volunteers in order to staff them.
As a partnership between the Office of Sustainability and UISG, the Cleartainer Tutorial Video was produced in order to streamline the process of training individuals for such volunteering. By using this video as a teaching resource, both the OS and UISG can help educate everyone on campus as to how to properly recycle and compost in a simple and accessible way. By increasing knowledge as to how to utilize Cleartainers, we are advancing the University of Iowa forward in its 2020 Visions for Sustainability, specifically by increasing our overall waste diversion.
Any questions or comments about cleartainer use can be directed to Sustainability Liaison Kelsey Zlevor.
