UI student government to host public meeting with city officials

Iowa City, IA – The University of Iowa Student Government (UISG) is hosting a town hall meeting with city officials on Tuesday, February 26 at 7 pm in 2520D University Capitol Centre (UCC). UISG City Council Liaison Alec Bramel organized this meeting to bring student leaders and city officials together. City officials attending include Mayor Matthew Hayek, Councilman Rick Dobyns, and Iowa City Downtown District Executive Director Nancy Bird.


Alec Bramel said, “During this meeting UISG executives and senators will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues with city officials. This meeting is designed to bring together UI student leaders and Iowa City leadership. We hope to better educate student leaders on the city’s work. In addition, we hope to encourage and share new ideas that will make the City of Iowa City and the University a better place for citizens and students alike.”


UISG will host and moderate the 90-minute town hall meeting between city officials and UISG executives and senators. The townhall meeting will focus on three topics: city and university safety; downtown culture and entertainment; and student housing and student-landlord relations.


The session will be moderated by UISG City Council Liaison Alec Bramel and UISG President Nic Pottebaum. The event is free and open to the public to attend.
